9:30 - 10:15 Lord's Supper
The Lord's Supper, or the Breaking of Bread, is our communion service. It is rather distinctive to the Brethren church, and is special in that it follows the biblical instruction for believers to come with a word or a song when we assemble. The service is usually about 45 minutes in length. It is unstructured and non-liturgical. Brothers will usually rise to their feet to pray, suggest a song, or read and expound upon a passage of Scripture. The purpose is worship, not teaching or exhortation, and most comments will address some aspect of the person and work of Jesus Christ. Often, a theme will develop. Usually towards the end, a brother will give thanks for the bread and give thanks for the wine. The emblems are passed around, with all in fellowship participating.
10:15 - 10:30 Prayer, Encouragement and Testimony Time
God's Word instructs us to encourage and pray for one another. We have devoted time to do this in a corporate setting.
10:30 - 11:00 Fellowship Time
11:00 - 12:00 Family Bible Hour
This is a traditional church service, with about 20 minutes of worship with godly music (hymns and praise songs), and 40 minutes of expository biblical teaching. Families are encouraged to worship together. We provide Sunday School for the children under 6th grade after the corporate worship time.
7:00 - 8:00 Prayer Meeting
We value the importance of prayer as a corporate body. This evening has a typical Bible Study format (time for worship, time in the Word and some discussion, and fellowship afterward), but mostly focuses on prayer.
We also have a Women's Bible Study that meets on Thursday mornings, and a monthly Saturday Men's Breakfast. We meet regularly for fellowship in homes, and suppers at church. Contact us for specific meeting information.
